The Ravens just re-signed Derrick Mason to a 2 year contract. Here's a sample of ol' reliable:
-1000 yards in 8 of the 10 last years
-Yet, in 5 of those 8 years he didn't eclipse 1100 yards, and in 2 more he didn't eclipse 1200.
-Not once in his 13 year career did he catch 10 TDs.
-Drafted in the 4th round.

He's just so...unspectacular. He's nowhere near terrible. He's definitely better than good. For all I know he might be a HOFer. But what is it about him that makes him so boring? A 36-year-old going for over a thousand yards with 7 td's as the #1 receiving option? Just doesn't happen much these days. I'm not certain that he won't play into his 40's.

Now here's an NFL transaction that it is really difficult to get excited about. We're' really looking at a player who personifies the under-appreciated that don't do anything but come in and do their job like they're supposed to. OK, maybe I'm selling Mason a bit short, he was pretty explosive in his prime, but now, frankly I think he's on the right team. The Ravens can muster up a little bit of offense now and then, but they won't do anything to excite you (read: Derrick Mason). The dude must be 37 or something now, right? He seems pretty gutsy, I'm unsure of his HOF credentials but I'd hate to see another deserving guy not get in just because he lacks eye-popping statistics.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn. This topic made me quote Gone With the Wind.

NCAA Championship: Memphis Vs Kansas
This week is the best sports week of the year they say. Masters. Opening Day or the beginning of baseball. And most importantly the Final Four. This year Memphis will face off against Kansas, to the death. Let the party begin after we weigh in with two minutes each:

You’ve got the two most talented teams in the nation going up against each other. Period. This never happens. You always get that team that has an absurdly streaky shooter, or a super scrappy rebounder, you know that guy that “tries harder than anyone else” (Hansbrough, you ain’t that good).
Memphis . This is mostly due to the fact that I actively dislike Kansas and back in the Final Four I also actively disliked UCLA and UNC. Plus Derrick Rose is badass and so is CDR.

I've got to go with Memphis. The whole season I didn't like them until I saw Derrick Rose play in the tourney. He's by far the best player in the country and will be a superstar in the pros. I thought the Wizards had Memphis' first pick and could get him.

Memphis-Texas First Half
Yet another day without a collaborative two minutes of awesomeness. I'm getting lonely. No worries, we'll be back in normal two minute action tomorrow or Tuesday...or maybe sooner, you never know.
Onward and upward, I will still stay true to limited length of posts:
First of all Memphis looks nasty. They look athletic, long, fast and powerful. Their offense looks fluid and dangerous and their defense has been suffocating. Texas came back at the end of the first half and I wouldn't rule out a close game but I also would not be shocked if a blowout occurred. Its always hard to tell when a team is getting dominated like Texas but makes a late spurt to close the gap. Was that all they had or was that them calming down and figuring out Memphis.
One of the major problems seems to be DJ Augustin's inability to not shoot when he drives. He and Abrams have been missing shots right and left primarily because every shot is contested. Augustin looks quick but his quickness is not taking him anywhere. Derrick Rose is, of course, a formidable opponent but this game may hurt Augustin's draft stock simply because he looks over matched and ineffective. And finally Rick Barnes is a terrible coach, still. He has a lot of talent on his team but they look unprepared and unable to respond to the onslaught from Memphis. Has Barnes ever heard of calling timeout? Why does Texas look surprised when Memphis continually beats them up and down the court? Did they not know they could run?
